Krzysztof Skórczewski (b. 1947) – studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. From 1995 to 2003, he was a professor at the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw; he also collaborated with Utah State University (USA). He is currently a professor at the University of Rzeszów, where he heads the Printmaking Department in the Faculty of Art. He initially worked in linocut; since 1976 (following his studies at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm), he has been practicing copperplate etching. Since the mid-1990s, he has also been creating series using painting techniques (pastels, watercolors) and drawing. His body of work includes over 60 solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad, as well as participation in numerous group exhibitions. He is the recipient of, among others, the Second Prize and the Endowed Prize at the 4th and 11th International Print Biennials in Kraków (1972, 1986), and the First Prize at the 2nd International Print Festival in Menton (France) in 1989. He also received the Special Award at the “Cuprum VI” International Print Biennial in Lubin (Poland) in 1995 and the First Prize at the Premio Sciascia (2009).
