About the Author

My training in mathematics and music are cardinal to the visual imagination. 15 years of work in the field of optimization of mechanical design taught me precision, the pursuit of intellectual and visual order. (Mathematicians have a saying: a proof visually looks nice, that is, it is carried out correctly). I know that every, even small element, line, tension, deflection, etc., affects the balance and durability of the structure created. Many things can be calculated and predicted in advance if you do the thought work.

On the other hand, 18 years of musicianship in the National Philharmonic Choir made me extremely sensitive to matters of color, emotion, emotion, ecstasy, impression, concentration and uncountable, but perceived through sensitivity to sound melody and rhythm, which are associated with jitter. Subconscious emotional contact with listeners was also important. These are things that are immeasurable by colors, shades, light or lack thereof.

In 2013, I received a master's degree from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the Workshop Graphics Studio of Prof. Rafał Strent, the Book Design and Illustration Studio of Prof. Zygmunt Januszewski and an annex in the Visual Structures Studio of Prof. Jacek. Dyrzynski. For me, the occupation of a visual artist is all about tension, emotion, but also visual order. I would never think of painting or making graphics as an activity. It is a secondary thing for me, completely obvious. When making a printmaking or painting I often turn on music, but artwork draws me in so much that I stop consciously listening, it is possible that I wouldn't even notice if someone turned off my music, and I forget about the passage of time or hunger.

Most of the artistic ideas flow in me from music. It imposes images and colors on me. Before I get down to work I always have the idea entirely in my head. I live with it, I discuss it with myself, sometimes only a memory in the form of a title remains of this idea. I often laugh myself to tears when I see in my imagination the future result of my work. Only when I mentally make friends with the project do I get down to work - making graphics.

And what about painting? In 2018 I completed my doctoral studies at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and in 2020 I received my doctorate in art. Often my paintings are a kind of rest from the tedious work of a linocut artist. I paint enjoying the color, the freedom of running the brush. I rest physically and mentally. I want to enhance my graphic works with spatial elements. These spatial structures stand at the opposite pole from the graphics, and thus conquer each other. They are also a discharge of inner merriment. For me, visual arts, is the joy of creation.

I am the author of dozens of solo exhibitions and a participant in many group exhibitions at home and abroad (including at the Krakow Tower in Nuremberg and the Metropolitan Museum in Tokyo). In addition to prizes and awards, important successes were two large-scale installations: the moving Hourglass at SKRA Stadium with dozens of participants, photographed from balloons, and Changing Perceptions for the 100th anniversary of regaining Independence in three toilets at the Faculty of Painting converted into a library, a milk bar and a saloon.

I am a two-time winner of the Warsaw Graphics competition, and was also among the finalists of the 2013 Siemens Art Prize competition. My works are in private collections at home and abroad, including Germany, Russia, Japan and Italy.
