Adam Herszaft (1886-1942). Studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited his works since 1907. Individual exhibitions of his works were held in 1924, 1936 and 1938 in Warsaw, in 1928 in Lodz and in 1935 in Katowice. Until 1930 he worked almost exclusively in printmaking, using mainly metal techniques. He was a member of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He also wrote a series of six novellas, Son of Apollo (1934). During World War II, he was resettled in the Warsaw Ghetto, where he worked in the Community Supply Department. In 1942, during a major deportation action, he was taken to the Treblinka extermination camp and murdered there.
