Ethnographer, museologist, folk art researcher, painter and graphic artist. It was Seweryn who introduced one of the most brilliant folk artists to Polish art - Jędrzej Wowra. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University - art history, literature and law. At the same time he was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In 1924, he received a scholarship, which allowed him to study for 2 years in Italy and France. In 1926 he became a member of the Ethnographic Commission of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, and in 1929 he permanently moved to Cracow and worked as a teacher of drawings at the 1st B. Nowodworski State Gymnasium. At the same time he worked at the Ethnographic Museum in Cracow (since 1930 as a curator). In 1930, after receiving his doctoral degree, he left Poland to conduct comparative research in Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and Hungary. As an artist, he belonged to the Guild of Artists "Jednoróg", among others. He created oil paintings, watercolors and woodcuts; he participated in group exhibitions in many cities in Poland. After Seweryn Udziela's death, he became director of the Ethnographic Museum in Cracow and headed it until 1965 (except during World War 2). In 1964 he became an honorary member of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Cracow, in which he was active for many years. Until 1956, he exhibited his works at painting salons under the auspices of TPSP at the Cracow Palace of Art.
The artist's works are characterized by subdued pastel colors and an avant-garde style, drawing primarily from the early experiments of the Cubists.
