A rare commemorative ruble minted to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the victorious Patriotic War of 1812, commonly referred to as the Borodino ruble, where the largest battle of the war took place.
The coin was minted in an edition of only 26,000 copies. Recommended for the best collections.
Obverse: Eagle of the Russian Empire against the background of the globe crowned with the tsar's crown with order ribbons, all around the coats of arms of the six countries of the Empire separated by the denomination marking РУБЛЬ; in the rim the legend:
АЛЕКСАНДРЪ I БОЖIЕЮ МИЛОСТIЮ ИМПЕРАТОРЪ И САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ ВСЕРОССIЙСКIЙ;
Reverse: inscription in 7 lines: 1812/СЛАВНЫЙГОДЪ/СЕЙ МИНУЛЪ,/НО НЕ ПРОЙДУТЪ/СОДЕЯННЫЕ ВЪ/НЕМЪ ПОДВИГИ/1912;
