The work depicts the motif of a former mine—one of the most important symbols of the industrial history of Cieszyn Silesia and Karviná. The artist is Tadeusz Wratny, an architect, painter, and illustrator associated with the Polish artistic community in Zaolzie.
The artist initially worked in architectural design, but since the 1980s he has devoted himself entirely to his creative work. He has exhibited his works in the Czech Republic and Poland, and his illustrations have been published in, among others, *Zwrot*, *Głos Ludu*, and numerous regional publications.
