Basil POUSTOCHKINE
1893 Moscow - 1973 Neuilly sur Seine
A talented and well-educated artist as a painter, printmaker and draughtsman. His fate at various points in his life was connected with Poland - he fought in our country against the Bolsheviks, worked here and with a Polish passport went to France. He created prints, designed textile patterns and painted landscapes. Small in size, but intriguing works, filled with soft light and the beauty of nature. When he created landscape studies of the Paris area, in a sense he was the heir to the achievements of the Impressionists. What also distinguishes Poustochkin's works is a certain nostalgia encapsulated in these small forms.
