Czech-French painter of the 20th century. Known in France as Othon Coubine. Member of the Prague artists' group The Eight. In 1913 he participated in the first German Autumn Salon in Berlin, exhibited by Herwarth Walden together with Emil Filla, Otto Gutfreund and Vincenc Beneš. From 1912 he lived in France. Friendship with Pablo Picasso. Early influences of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism such as Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. Created in France mainly landscapes, still lifes and portraits in cool, muted colors in the style of New Objectivity.
