Biography
In 2002, she earned a degree in painting with a specialization in set design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She collaborated on ballet productions at Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz. Animator/painter on the films *Chłopi* and *Loving Vincent*. She has participated in over a dozen exhibitions, including: the 2nd Krzysztof Grzesiak National Painting Competition, Museum in Lębork, 2024; Stage Images – Andrzej Markowicz and…, Municipal Art Gallery, Sopot, 2013; Images of Space, Polish Institute in Prague—an exhibition accompanying the 12th edition of the Set Design Quadrennial, Czech Republic, Prague, 2011; ANIMALIS—2nd Painting Triennial, Municipal Art Gallery, Chorzów. Kamila Michałowska’s work is a constant dialogue between organic abstraction and motifs from nature. She draws inspiration from the complexity of the natural world—plants, the textures of the earth, tree bark, water surfaces, and animal forms. In her paintings, she employs subtle chiaroscuro, which introduces depth and delicacy to her compositions. Using a broad color palette and various tonal ranges, she captures the richness of natural hues and ensures a harmonious relationship between color and form. The circle and the square form the basis of her compositions, organizing the pictorial space and emphasizing the contrast between order and the organic nature of the natural world. The paintings become a space for reflection, encouraging the viewer to focus on the beauty of nature and the harmony hidden in its details.
