Lot information
A French officer's cord from around 1880. The blade is straight, single-ground with a central point, made of steel with visible traces of corrosion. Three narrow grooves run along the entire length of the blade. The hilt is brass, equipped with a semi-arched guard with a cup-shaped hand guard, which provides increased protection during fights. The handle is made of leather, wrapped with black wire, which ensures a firm grip. The pommel is bulbous, a typical feature of French officer cords of this era. The scabbard is metal, originally nickel-plated, but the nickel layer is falling off on its surface
