Originally, *Pan Wołodyjowski* appeared in three different periodicals: *Słowo*, *Czas*, and *Kurier Poznański*, at the turn of 1887–1888. It concluded with the words: “Here ends this series of books written over the course of several years and with no small effort—to lift the spirits.”
