Pablo Picasso captured in front of his home in the south of France, where he lived and worked until the early 1960s. A slightly stooped arm, a sideways glance, hands clasped in a gesture of reverie, a confident, artistic soul.

On October 23, 1956, Spanish-French painter, printmaker, sculptor and ceramicist Pablo Picasso celebrates his 75th birthday. Initially nurturing the Impressionist style of his early years, Picasso "discovered" Cubism in 1906, the basic forms of which, with some modifications, can be seen in all his later works.
