Antoni Brade, born 1887 Warsaw - painter, landscape painter, marine artist. Studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Milosz Kotarbinski and Pius Wielonski and at the St. Petersburg Academy. He visited China, Japan, India and African countries. In Vladivostok he had his exhibition. Paintings from that time were lost in Kyiv during the October Revolution. In 1921 he returned to Poland and settled in Katowice, and later, after World War II, in Jawor in Lower Silesia and, since 1951, in Świdnica. He ran a private painting school. He painted in the realist convention, creating portraits, nudes, still lifes, flowers, landscapes, portrait studies (of highlanders and fishermen), and above all marine paintings. He belonged to the "Zacheta" group, with which he exhibited, including abroad. He also exhibited his paintings at the Zachęta Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts (1929) and the Marine Club in Warsaw (1935), at the Cracow Society of Friends of Fine Arts (1938) and at the All-Polish Marine Exhibition in Warsaw (1964). He had numerous solo exhibitions, including in Vladivostok (1915), at the City Museum in Walbrzych (1962) and at ZPAP in Wroclaw (1966). He died in Swidnica in 1973.
