Lot description
A rectangular snuffbox made of sterling silver 800/1000, weight 94 grams, with Diana hallmark, used in Austria-Hungary in 1866-1922. The lid is decorated with a precise etched and gilded lion hunting scene where a rider on horseback draws a bow against an attacking beast. The back side is richly decorated with an engraved plant ornament.
The snuffbox is decorated with the Tula (niello) technique
