Oil, canvas, 76 x 117 cm, signed p.d.: P. Weimann.
Silesian painter, landscape artist. He studied at the Kunst-Gewerbeschule in Breslau in the landscape class under C.E. Morgenstern; during his studies he often went on plein-air trips to the Karkonosze and the Alps. He later trained at the Berlin Academy. He settled in Świerzawa, and after World War I in Jelenia Góra. He painted almost exclusively landscapes, especially fond of winter views of the Giant Mountains. As a sensitive observer of nature and a master at capturing the winter mood, he left behind a great many works, including landscape studies painted directly in the open air. He was musically gifted, and his passion for music led to a series of drawings stylized in the spirit of Art Nouveau, inspired by the music of L. van Beethoven. His paintings are in museum collections, including those of the Karkonosze Museum.
