French military flintlock infantry rifle of the 1822 model, made in 1825 in the royal armory in St. Étienne. Barrel marked "mle 1822" on breech bolt tab, lock plate marked "mre Rle de St. Étienne". Dark stained beechwood stock bears circular maker's marks dated 1825. Surface of barrel with heavy layers of old blackened corrosion. The weapon includes the original sleeve bayonet in a very corroded condition, without sleeves and locking feather. Typical standard equipment of French infantry from the period shortly after the Napoleonic Wars. Condition significantly affected by corrosion, especially metal parts. Stock in good condition with distinct inspection marks.
