Russia (St. Petersburg mint) 3 Roubles 1835/3 СПБ - Nicholas I (1825-1855)

Russia (St. Petersburg mint) 3 Roubles 1835/3 СПБ - Nicholas I (1825-1855)
10.29g. Pt 0.950. XF+/AU. Appealing example, retaining mint luster and good relief details, but with the typical slight weak strike commonly seen for this type. Mintage: 138 504 pcs. Bitkin 81 R; 10 roubles according to Ilyin. A notably interesting and quite rare variety with the final digit of the date re-engraved. Rare! Issued between 1828 and 1845, the platinum coins of the Russian Empire were the first of their kind globally. Minted under Emperor Nicholas I, these coins came in denominations of 3, 6, and 12 rubles. Produced at the Saint Petersburg Mint, they featured the imperial double-headed eagle and reflected Russia's wealth. Due to their limited circulation and the eventual discontinuation in 1845, these coins are now rare and highly prized by collectors.
