FLORENCE Ferdinand III (1790-1801) Francescone 1792 (proof?) - MIR 405/1 (listed R/4); Gig. 24 (listed R/5 and as proof? Without any evaluation in any grade of conservation) AG (g 27.23) RRRR Millesimo of extreme rarity, this the only specimen tracked down, so much so that Gigante in note reports knowing only three specimens but most likely the only one known should be the one presented here. "It is assumed," Gigante adds, "that these coins are proofs" with good reason since it differs from all the rest of Ferdinand's francesconi series. Surely we are dealing with one of the key pieces of the 18th-century Florentine series.
