Jan Wisniewski [1904-1977] - painter and stage designer, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the direction of Tadeusz Pruszkowski. After graduation, he practiced versatile easel painting [portraits, landscape, genre painting] and polychromy [church in Lomza], applied graphics, stained glass [church in Grodno; he ran a stained glass studio in Warsaw], as well as sacred painting [Holy Cross Church in Warsaw. In 1949, he returns to Warsaw to the Polish Theater, where he takes up the position of head of the stage design studio and works there until 1971, drawing up many stage designs for plays staged at the theater. In the post-war period, he constantly experiments in the field of painting, looking for new means of expression, but always in a realistic convention. In the 1960s and 1970s, under the pseudonym Wiewski, he paints for DESA abroad, which sends his paintings to many countries around the world.
