These works by Picasso refer to Le Dejeuner sur l'herbe (Dinner on the Grass) by Edouard Manet, who was so impressed by this work that he spent three years working on and reworking variations of it. He made some 150 sketches, 27 paintings, three linocuts and 18 cardboard models of sculptures.
