The manufactory in Herend ( a small town near Budapest) was founded in 1826. In 1853 it was awarded a gold medal at the Artistic Industries Exhibition in New York for its beautiful porcelain. In the mid-19th Herend made a magnificent service for Queen Victoria. The factory is famous not only for its beautiful services, trinkets, but also for its unusual figurines. Small porcelain masterpieces are still being made there.
