The work is a collaboration between Clara Holt for the decoration and Domenico Guardiani for the vase. Clara, an Italian artist based in Milan, uses the sgraffito technique for the vase decoration. After applying a layer of coloured slip to the ceramic she scrapes off parts of the layer to create images, motifs and textures often taken from classical literature, contrasting with the colour of the underlying clay.
