"The publication, which we are handing over to you, is a kind of monograph of the STEATYT Ceramic Products Factory in Katowice. It opens with a text dedicated to the history of the plant, presenting and analyzing the range of production, which is at the same time an attempt to locate the company's achievements in the context of the history of Polish design, as well as the times and circumstances in which it came to function. It also addresses the issues of imitative influences and original creations of the "Steatite" team, as well as the often debatable functional and aesthetic qualities of the products.The author considers the 1960s to be the most interesting period of "Steatite" activity. This period is presented in this study in album form, based on the extremely rich and representative collection of Tomasz and Izabela Dziewicki. Thanks to the preserved archival materials, including in the form of unique albums with photographs of products (which are an offer catalog presented to customers), a list of models realized in the Katowice factory was prepared, supplemented by information on, among other things, the dimensions of the presented objects (based on data collected during queries of museum and private collections), as well as the prototypes identified by the author. A separate part consists of recollections written down by a long-time employee and, in the last period of the company's activity, its co-owner - Eng. Ada Chmiel, as well as an account by Urszula Rzepecka, daughter of the owner of "Steatite" Zygmunt Buksowicz, and recollections of former employees: Dorota Dolubizno, Cecylia Mamok, Urszula Słota, Danuta Prycy-Śliwiak, Krystyna Kucharczyk and Ewa Prochaczek (...)"
