Introduction in Ukrainian, while the catalog itself printed in Polish and Ukrainian.

From the introduction: "The rich collections of the National Museum include primarily works of ancient Ukrainian art in the West. There are also many works of ancient Western art on Ukrainian soil. Among them, an important place is occupied by a collection of drawings (about 600 pieces), hitherto unknown to the public, acquired by the Museum Founder back in the days of the humble beginnings of the "Church Museum." This collection belonged to the Austrian collector Karl Menziel, from whom it came to the National Museum, already in a partially organized and classified state. The museum is organizing a partial exhibition from this collection, mainly of Italian drawings, as the most interesting. Although the collection had already been sorted out to some extent, and even, according to numerous notes on the drawings, they had been compared and verified with the drawings of the Vienna Albertina, the collection is still only a raw material for experimentation, which cannot be transferred to the Lviv site due to the lack of similar collections of drawings. It is well known how important the comparative method is in such cases.

To this exhibition, so to speak, the Museum also includes a collection of ancient images from the Founder's gift. Although this collection is not uniform as to origin and time, such a background will greatly enhance interest in the numerous drawings on display. Among these images are such masterpieces as Italian Madonnas from the early Renaissance, or such exquisite works as the de Vese still life [...]."
