"The Polish Kings: images collected and drawn by Alexander Lesser, explained with historical text by Julian Bartoszewicz", published in Warsaw in 1860. It is one of the most important nineteenth-century postcards of Poland's rulers, valued for its attempt to faithfully render the historical features of the figures based on ancient monuments and paintings.
The drawings were prepared by painter and historian Alexander Lesser, and the biographies of the rulers were compiled by historian Julian Bartoszewicz.
The plaques were made in lithographic technique by prominent Warsaw artists: Henryk Aschenbrenner and Władysław Walkiewicz.
The album, known to collectors as "Large Lesser," was extremely popular and lived to see further editions (including one in 1861 in a smaller format under the title "Images of Polish Kings").
