"Czasopismo Naukowe Ossolińskich", published since January 1828 by the Ossoline National Institute, was the first scientific journal in the history of the Polish press focusing on historical and literary issues. The editor was Franciszek Siarczyński, a parish priest and dean of Łańcut and Jarosław, a member of the Warsaw Society of the Friends of Sciences, author of numerous historical works, and director of the Institution, who filled the pages of each issue with his author's works and historical materials left behind by Jozef Maksymilian Ossoliński. After Siarczynski's death, the editorship (from 1830) was taken over by Ksawery Wiesiołowski, and then, from 1831, by Konstanty Slotwinski, who changed the title of the periodical to "Scientific Magazine from the National Establishment named after Ossolinski issued."
