"Ramoty starego Detiuka o Wołyniu" describes the life and customs of the people of Volhynia, portraying the history and society of the region against the background of the author's own experiences, Antoni Andrzejowski, and his family. The author, who comes from the nobility, recounts his life from childhood, through military service, education and scientific activity. The narrative contains autobiographical elements, as well as numerous social, cultural and moral descriptions that paint a picture of life in Volhynia in the 18th and 19th centuries. Andrzejowski presents both personal experiences and a broad historical background, referring to important political and social events of the time. The narrative mixes romantic elements with a realistic portrayal of daily life, work, education and struggles against adversity.
