He studied at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts (1907-1911), initially sculpture in the studio of Xawery Dunikowski, and then painting under professors: Kazimierz Stabrowski, Konrad Krzyzanowski, Edward Trojanowski and Stanisław Lentz. He made his debut in 1910 at Warsaw's Zachęta Gallery and from then until 1939 regularly exhibited there. From 1919 to 1922 he stayed in France, mainly in Paris, where he participated in salons and exhibitions organized by the Société des Artistes Français and the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts. In 1920, he took part in the exhibition of The International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers in London, while the following year he had a solo exhibition in Paris at Galerie Devambez, with which he was then under contract. From 1924 to 1926 he was in Italy, where his landscapes of Naples and Venice were created.
In the late 1920s and early 1930s, the artist made a name for himself as an author of sports paintings. The composition "At the Hurdle", depicting hurdler Stefan Kostrzewski, and "Portrait of Halina Konopacka", were created for the Olympic Competition accompanying the Ninth Games in Amsterdam. Although they were not awarded at the competition, they were noted by critics for their new ways of capturing sports composition.
The artist was a renowned portraitist, and critics praised him for his ability to capture the psychological.
His paintings are in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw, the National Museum in Cracow, the Museum of Sports and Tourism in Warsaw, the Ministry of Culture and Art, and and in the Drawing Room of the University of Warsaw Library.
