Stanislaw Daczynski (1856 - 1929) - born in Wisnicz, graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Krakow, where he studied in the classes of Władysław Luszczkiewicz, Feliks Szynalewski and Florian Cynk, as well as Jan Matejko himself. A gifted painter and pedagogue, he worked as a drawing teacher at the School of Ceramic Industry in Kolomyia from 1888. In addition to oil and watercolor painting, he did interior designs, sacred painting in church interiors and was involved in applied art. With his numerous exhibitions he gained considerable attention and became known as a lover of Hutsul and the mountains, which were often the subjects of his works. He did not shy away from portraits and hunting scenes. In the composition on display, with the author's title "Tatra Forester," he somehow combined these themes, showing the figure of an elderly mountaineer, leaning on a rifle, in characteristic highland clothing, against a backdrop of the Tatra snowy panorama of peaks, whose ridge is illuminated by the pink rising sun.
The work is signed and dated in the lower left corner "StDaczyński1925", additionally the author's description on the back "Highland Forester" and "Stanisław Daczyński Zakopane".
