Biography
In the 1880s, he studied in Warsaw under Wojciech Gerson, and then at the Kraków School of Fine Arts under Jan Matejko, L. Loeffler, F. Cynk. He also studied in Munich, Paris, and Italy. He traveled extensively, including to the East. He lived permanently in Warsaw. He created illustrations for magazines such as "Chimera." He was a member of the "Odłam" Artists' Association. He published articles on art history and worked as an archaeologist. Wawrzeniecki’s paintings are characterized by a penchant for mystical and symbolic motifs. The artist often explored allegorical themes inspired by Slavic myths and legends, as well as the pre-Christian history of Poland.
