He took up the theme of a nocturne with the moon over a vast Stanislawski field many times (cf. "Moonlit Night" 1903, National Museum in Krakow no.
MNK II-b-843). With a direct relationship to nature, he searched beneath the surface of natural phenomena for the metaphysical essence of being in a pure landscape devoid of any staffage or literary narrative. Painted with a broad brushstroke, maintained in narrow tones of browns, blues and purples, evoking a mood of melancholy and sadness
