Representative of figuration, and more broadly of representational painting, sometimes called non-socialist realism. Together with Marek Sapetta, he formed in 1968-1974 a painting duo in opposition to colorism, but also conceptualism, critical of abstraction. In his work he conducted an unabashedly ironic observation of the banality of life in the People's Republic of Poland. With sarcasm, he took up themes and motifs of the most diverse manifestations of life in socialist society: relaxing on the beach during FWP factory vacations, queuing in stores, a mocking description of cardboard sputniks "Sdiełano in the CCCR." He probed the possibilities of referring to battle and epic-heroic themes: the Battle of Lenino, Samosierra or the January Uprising, and even a political theme related to March 1968. His rich creative output is complemented by landscapes, flowers, still lifes and genre scenes. Often, the primary source of a painting in Szamborski's work is a photograph or postcard. Wieslaw Szamborski was born in Skarżysko Kamienna in 1941. At the Faculty of Painting he studied in the studio of Michał Bylina. He graduated from painting in 1966. Before studying painting, he had an episode of economic and commercial studies. He worked continuously at the Painting Department from 1969 to 2012. Full Professor.
