Jacek Malczewski was one of the most important Polish painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a representative of Symbolism. In his works he often combined patriotic, mythological and religious themes, showing the spiritual dilemmas of the Polish nation. In addition to his compositions, monumental in subject matter, the artist left behind many sketches. The work presented here depicts a floral composition in a vase. The work is distinguished by its subtle colors, delicacy and poetic mood, with an excellent depiction of the play of colors and light.
