An artist in whose work painting and fabric met, creating as a result original self-contained plastic entities, woven from light, color and matter. In the philosophy of her work, Dorota Grynczel was close to the concept of Malevich suprematism, with its mystical objectlessness and emptiness, in which the artist experiences the Absolute. She expressed herself consistently in a narrow range of colors: white, gray, blue and black, with rich gradients. In recent times, almost exclusively in blues. She achieved an extraordinary subtlety of expression in embroidered weaving miniatures , often exhibited together with paintings, which in the case of this work always gave an excellent exhibition effect. For there was a certain unity in her painting and weaving works. She studied at the Faculty of Painting with Wojciech Sadley in textiles and with Jan Tarasin in painting. She received her diploma with honors from Tarasin in 1977. For many years she led the fabric studio at the Faculty of Painting. In 2012-2016 she was dean of the Faculty of Painting. She passed away in 2018. Full Professor.
